**How much is vehicle tax in East Kalimantan, and how do I check and pay it?**

East Kalimantan's vehicle tax (PKB) rate is 0.8% for a first vehicle, rising from 0.9% to 1.2% for second and later vehicles, plus a 66% opsen for the regency or city. Check the bill through SIMPATOR or e-Samsat Kaltim. Late payment incurs 1% interest a month for up to 24 months. 2026 relief programme: 21 September 2026–22 November 2026.

## East Kalimantan vehicle tax relief in 2026

**Relaksasi Bebas Denda Pajak Kendaraan Bermotor (PKB) Tahun 2026.** Running 21 September 2026–22 November 2026.

Late-payment administrative fines on PKB (owners pay only the PKB principal owed) and SWDKLLJ fines for 2025 and earlier years. No discount on the PKB principal or SWDKLLJ principal. Announced by Tim Pembina Samsat Kaltim and Bapenda Kaltim; ongoing on 2026-09-25.

## Penalty for paying East Kalimantan vehicle tax late

Late PKB incurs interest of 1% a month for up to 24 months, with any part of a month counted as a full month; the same applies to opsen. The SWDKLLJ contribution has its own fine of 25% to 100% of the annual amount, capped at Rp100,000. (Provincial basis: Pergub Kaltim No. 1 Tahun 2025 Pasal 14 ayat (10) (late PKB incurs interest per the regulations, billed by STPD) jo. Lampiran II (official SKPD format, 'Perhatian' note 2: 1% per month from the due date, max 24 months, part of a month counts as a full month); Perda Kaltim 1/2024 Pasal 70 ayat (3) and Pasal 104 ayat (2) delegate to the Pergub.
