Indonesian KIR commercial-vehicle inspections
Understand periodic KIR checks for transport vehicles, local bookings and Mitra Darat safety status.

KIR periodic inspection applies to transport vehicles required by Ministry of Transport rules; it is not a universal annual MOT for every private car. Charges depend on the testing unit and applicable rules. Do not mistake a national type-approval laboratory tariff for a local operator KIR fee; verify the local transport office’s official price.

KIR differs from tax and transfer inspection
KIR tests technical roadworthiness for vehicles subject to periodic inspection. Annual tax/STNK is ownership administration, while transfer inspection matches vehicle identity. These do not substitute for one another. The Ministry introduced national SIM PKB Fullcycle integration in 2026.
