Death registration and family support in Indonesia
Handle death registration, Family Card updates, possible survivor benefits, inheritance and later-life care planning.

After a death, obtain the death statement from the appropriate facility or authority, report it to Dukcapil for a death certificate and update the Family Card. Use those records for bank, employment-insurance and inheritance processes separately. No single national service settles all matters automatically.

Obtain initial evidence
Request the death statement from the hospital, health professional or competent authority as appropriate.
Report to Dukcapil
Use your local service for the death certificate and Family Card update; check names and dates.
Check benefits and liabilities
Contact BPJS Ketenagakerjaan about JKM/JHT/JP if enrolled and banks or insurers with heir documents.
Plan elder care
For living relatives, assess JKN, long-term care needs, family support and local costs before drawing up authority or care agreements.
Costs and timing
Dukcapil death-certificate issuance is free. Funeral, notary, heir and elder-care costs vary locally. JKM/JP benefits depend on membership and BPJS assessment.

Later-life care has no universal price
JKN covers healthcare within its benefits and referral system, not automatically all home-care or residential elder-care costs. Budget for non-covered medicines, transport, aids and family support.
Things to check carefully
- Do not move the deceased’s funds without checking heir authority and bank requirements.
- An ordinary power of attorney does not automatically settle an estate after death.
